The Institute of Earth Sciences (IES) of Academia Sinica, Taiwan, completed a comprehensive assessment of a series of brands of seismic instruments dedicated to dense array seismic instruments as early as 2020. The assessment was designed to provide a scientific and reliable reference for future instrument purchases by the various departmental units of the Institute of Earth Sciences, Academia Sinica, to meet the needs of subsequent projects, and the assessment conducted a detailed seismic instrument comparison test.

The instrument test site is located in the third basement of the Institute of Earth Sciences, Academia Sinica (as shown in the test environment above), with low ambient noise interference and a GPS signal transponder, making it a more ideal environment for seismic instrument testing.

During the evaluation process, the Institute of Earth Sciences, Academia Sinica, focused on testing the performance of different instrument brands in a dense table array detection environment through sophisticated testing and in-depth analyses.

Meanwhile, the Earth Institute of Academia Sinica conducted comparison tests with broadband seismometers to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the evaluation results. After a thorough examination, the comprehensive conclusion is that the SmartSolo nodal seismometer is excellent in waveform presentation, ease of installation, and data processing. Looking at the <0.2Hz noise alone, the SmartSolo nodal seismometer performed better. The Earth Institute of Academia Sinica finally chose to purchase more than 100 SmartSolo nodal seismometers, providing strong equipment support for subsequent projects.

The purchase decision was made after rigorous scientific evaluation by the Institute of Earth Sciences (IES) of Academia Sinica in Taiwan, and the SmartSolo nodal seismometers have once again demonstrated excellent performance and high product reliability in dense array detection applications. This was not only a successful investment in science and technology, but also laid a solid foundation for subsequent research projects at Academia Sinica and thousands of large-scale purchases from research institutes and universities in Taiwan.
